One-stop citizen portal
A centralized portal replaced the disjointed collection of legacy sites and applications, and their separate logins, with a single destination.
Enterprise software, built and audited in India.
The agency’s existing digital infrastructure was a disjointed collection of outdated websites and applications, each requiring separate logins and offering a frustratingly poor user experience.
The engagement
A large regional government agency is responsible for providing essential services to over 20 million citizens. Its services range from tax collection and vehicle registration to issuing social welfare benefits and business licenses. The agency aims to digitize its operations to improve efficiency, transparency, and citizen satisfaction.
The systems were notorious for crashing during peak tax seasons, leading to long queues at physical offices and widespread public dissatisfaction.
The most critical challenge was security. The agency had recently experienced a minor data breach due to unpatched vulnerabilities in a legacy application, making the overhaul a matter of national urgency. They required a unified, highly secure and highly available citizen portal that could handle millions of users while adhering to the strictest government security mandates.
The build
The architectural moves that replaced the system described above, in the order they shipped.
A centralized portal replaced the disjointed collection of legacy sites and applications, and their separate logins, with a single destination.
The frontend was built with Next.js as a responsive, mobile-first design meeting WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
Java Spring Boot microservices carry the backend business logic, chosen for their proven reliability and security features in enterprise environments.
A highly secure, decentralized identity model lets citizens use a single credential to access all government services.
The infrastructure is deployed on a private, government-approved cloud environment using advanced auto-scaling groups and global server load balancing.

Stack & architecture
Security was not a phase at the end of this build. It was engineered into the same release as the functionality it protects.
No user or system is inherently trusted, and every access request is strictly verified.
Biometric authentication options supplement traditional passwords.
Independent cybersecurity firms conducted continuous security auditing of the platform.
A SIEM system monitors network traffic for anomalies in real time.
All code is subjected to strict static and dynamic application security testing before deployment.
Measured results
Every figure below was reported by the client after go-live.
During the subsequent tax season the platform processed over 5 million concurrent sessions without a single moment of downtime, eliminating the need for citizens to queue at physical offices.
Driven largely by the intuitive Next.js frontend and the convenience of the unified login system.
The SIEM system detected and automatically neutralized over 10,000 sophisticated cyberattack attempts in the first year.
The Zero Trust security model held through the first year, restoring public trust in the agency’s digital infrastructure.
